About Perry:

Perry R. Rettig, Ph.D. is former Vice President at Piedmont University.  He has recently returned to teaching as Distinguished University  Professor at Piedmont. He has served in the roles of Vice President for  Academic Affairs, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student  Affairs, and Vice President of the Athens campus while at Piedmont. He  even served as interim dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences  and then as interim dean of Education while concurrently serving as  Vice President. Prior to 2013, Rettig served as Associate Vice  Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh  where he also served as Professor of Educational Leadership and  Administration since 1996. Before that he served as a public school  principal and a public school teacher. Rettig has authored eight  academic "concept" books with Rowman & Littlefield. He has another  under contract and has recently completed his first novel. In addition,  Perry writes a monthly  column for The Northeast Georgian and other occasional pieces for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. He has presented numerous academic papers across the country as well as Beijing, China; London, England, Vienna Austria; Paris, France; Melbourne, Australia; Belfast Ireland; Krakow, Poland; and Valencia, Spain.  Dr. Rettig also played semi-pro football for two years with the Fox Valley Force. He is an avid reader with a particular focus on American democratic history and on quantum physics and the other newer sciences. Both broad topics influence his thinking and writing about leading our organizations.
